Two former Secretaries of State at the José Sócrates authorities, have been accused of embezzlement.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has asked the trial “of two Secretaries of State from the José Sócrates government, in office between 2009 and 2011,” but has been coy about showing their names, regardless of this being of public attention.
Their titles are José Magalhães and José Conde Rodrigues, both of whom were accused of using credit cards to get their private spending instead of for expenditures associated with their tasks.
According into the Prosecutor’s Office, both prior Secretaries of State must report regularly to their regional police stations and confront a claim for civil damages on behalf of those Portuguese State.
