Alongside the increase in Portugal’s tourist figures this past year, museum entry numbers increased – with a laudable 8.1 percent – as tourists sought out temples, temples and palaces cared for by the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage.
The total headcount has been 5,060,780 traffic to Portugal’s monuments and museums annually with the most popular website being Lisbon’s Jerónimos Monastery which attracted more than a million people up 7.9 percent over the year earlier.
According into the Directorate, national monuments accounted for 2.9 million people this past year, with a additional 1.6 million seeing national museums.
